Luca embodies a growth mindset, subscribes to a product-led growth mentality, and is one of the most astute strategic thinkers and problem solvers I’ve ever met.
Luca is a wonderful coach and manager. In my position as development lead of Jetpack, my first position where I was leading other leads, my 1:1s with Luca often contained some component where Luca was coaching me in an effort to help improve the division. Further, Luca also dedicated time to improving other engineering leads in the company.
I’ve worked for a few years with Luca and what always impressed me is his ability to take charge of things, be accountable of successes and mistakes and drive the team goals forward through obstacles. His attitude of speaking directly and sincerely while expecting the same from others, helped create and drive a high performance team that kept improving.
Luca is a wonderful mentor and very thorough with his communication and teachings. He has a wealth of knowledge and experience in many areas of product development—from growth marketing to leading large engineering teams.
Luca expects a great deal as a leader, but he’s also a beacon of support and strength for team members. Luca is an expert at scoping and defining product work, and I came to rely on him for all new projects.
Luca’s combination of knowledge and communication skills led to actionable insights that we could implement rapidly and effectively.
Luca is a true leader and has been my role model since we worked together. He’s rooted in principles, has an excellent work ethic, and made the whole team understand the importance of all processes in the organization.
I can count on one hand (with fingers to spare!) the people who have supported me in my ~15-year career as authentically and with as much impact as Luca.
I feel so lucky now that Luca was my mentor during my Journey as an individual contributor and then Engineering Manager.
We talked in detail about performance management, how to resolve conflicts, how to manage up, efficient time management, and similar topics important to be a good lead, which is not easy to hone.
I’ve learnt about (and, more importantly, applied!) some of Luca’s best practices about working with remote & distributed teams, being effective in meetings and communication, managing expectations, and leading teams to growth.
Luca is one of those extremely hard-to-find leaders who can transform a group of underperforming individuals into a high-performance team in less than a year and leave the entire company asking themselves how that happened.
Luca taught me many things: how to frame a difficult conversation and create an acceptable outcome for both parties; how to work through a conversation with a team member and reach the root issue; how to communicate well and manage up; how to balance conflicting business needs; and how to approach Director-level and CEO-level leadership.
